July 31, 1935 - June 5, 2024
88 Years
It is with great joy and honour that the family of Ervin George Friesen announce his journey home to the Lord in heaven. On June 5, 2024, in the quiet early hours of the morning, Ervin took his last peaceful breath with his family at his side.
Ervin was born a farmer and loved to work hard, but always found time to play and joke around. His children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and any kids that were lucky to know him were blessed with countless hours of laughter and love and lots of teasing.
Ervin, one of 13 children, was born on the family homestead six miles west of Rosthern. He farmed 640 acres of land and raised his family in the same house he was born in. He was also proud to be the custodian at Eigenheim Mennonite Church for many years.
In 1970 Ervin met and later married his accidental penpal Mary Neufeld and they were blessed to choose three children to call their own (Debbie, Raelene, and Mark). Ervin enjoyed sports and was very active in bowling and curling leagues throughout the years.
Ervin leaves to mourn his loving wife of 53 years, Mary; daughter, Debbie; son, Mark (Judy); grandchildren, Andy Smit, Vincent Friesen, Kara (Andrew) Crowe, Jade Friesen, Tiffany (Ken) Twist, Ashley Demers; great grandchildren, Aubree, Alexis, Jackson and Hallie; sisters, Carolina (Heidi), Ruth, Mabel, Delores, Naomi; and brother, Joe.
Ervin is predeceased by his mother (Katherine), father (Bernard), stepmother (Mary Friesen), sister Phyllis (Jake), daughter (Raelene), great granddaughter (June), brothers Walter, Abe, sisters Hertha, Ann, and Justina.
