Obituary of Pete Regier

Please share a memory of Pete to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

April 14, 1962 - June 24, 2024

62 Years

Pete was born to Karl and Sylvia Regier on April 14, 1962, in Rosthern; he was the oldest of four siblings.  He met Shirley through mutual friends, they quickly fell in love and got married on November 13, 1993, at Tiefengrund Church.  Their families became one and together they raised their 6 children on the farm.

His passion for farming was evident at a young age; he would rather be on the field than in school. On several occasions, he would be pulled out of school to help his dad during harvest; one of his favorite memories was being able to combine his first field at the mere age of 10. It was important to Pete that all his children were involved with harvest, just like he was growing up. Sharing his love of farming with his family resulted in many wonderful memories.

Pete showed his generous nature in his love for the community. He served on the arena board for 6 years, hosting snowmobile rallies, wiener roasts, and gathering prizes. There were times when the arena needed a big boost, so he came up with the farm project idea.  For two seasons he donated the use of a quarter of his land and with the help of local farmers and donations, the crop was off quickly, with all proceeds going to the Laird Arena.

Pete was always the first one to pick up the tab at meals, or drinks with friends.  He loved visiting, farm talk, and sharing stories of his wild past; with a laugh sure to follow.  His remembrance of past experiences, crops, weather, and dates was amazing.

He also enjoyed working on the church grounds committee with his friend, Dave. Keeping the cemetery and yard beautiful was important to Pete. He took great pride in being a part of the cemetery project as well as organizing the annual crop check.

Pete passed away peacefully at home, which is what he would have wanted.  He was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia and his brother-in-law, Wayne Fischer.

Left to cherish his memories are Shirley, his wife of 30 years; children Zach (Megan), Jake (Jess), Chris (Chelsey), Colton (Lexi), Shane (Cara), and Reanne; grandchildren Ava, Emma, Ethan, Ellie, and Logan; father, Karl (Ruby); sisters Tamara (Curt) and Anita; brother Steve; and many relatives and friends.
