I have many childhood memories of Uncle Gary although they were fleeting in nature as they often when your a child. I remember his kindness and gentle demeanour. We would travel from Canwood to Evans farm always excited to run around with Derek and Deedra. I was never a big fan of bananas but Uncle Gary had a bad of dried bananas chips on the kitchen table, he held the bag up for me , “ try one he said “ . I was very sceptical , untrusting of adults. I knew I hated bananas but I really wanted to try one of these dried chips because Uncle Gary was always kind and just straight up real with me. I finally went for it, I ended up loving them and went on to eat more then my share. Derek had returned to kitchen to find half the bag gone. I felt like I had done something horrible wrong apologized profusely, Uncle Gary had gone out of his way to make me feel important encouraged me to not feel bad. Uplifting memories such as these from important adults in my life, live with in me for the duration of my life. It was a simple moment but one that helped carve out an important paths for me. I will be forever grateful that I was given the opportunity to tell uncle Gary how important that moment was.
