I likely met Hilda only once or twice while I was living and working in Saskatoon, and I would visit my aunt, her step-mother, Katharine Balzer. Aunt Tina was my Mom’s sister – Mary Friesen from Leamington, Ontario. I do a lot of genealogy, so when I was working on the Balzer connection to my family, I contacted Hilda and she was kind enough to send me lots of information about the Balzers. My Mom, as a teenager and just out of Russia, lived with Heinrich and Elizabeth Baltzer in Langham. So in a way, with Hilda’s passing, I feel that my last link with the Balzers is gone.
