Obituary of Freda Rempel Daku

February 28, 1925 – October 12, 2014 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Freda Rempel Daku. Freda was born near Kelstern, SK. Feb. 28, 1925 and went to be with her Savior October 12, 2014 in Saskatoon, SK. After completing her training at the Briercrest Bible Institute, Freda taught school for several years, and in May 1954, moved to Taiwan to work with The Evangelical Alliance Mission. Along with work in founding various churches in the country, she ministered with the Door of Hope Children’s Refuge, a home for orphans. Shortly after beginning that duty she became the director and continued in that capacity until 1973. A change in her assignment took place that year when she and other missionaries started a church in another city. They worked in that area for 5 years and then moved to another city close by to begin a second church. In 1994 she returned to Canada, retired, and resided in Swift Current. In 1997, she married Charles Daku and moved to Saskatoon. She is predeceased by her husband Charlie, her parents Isaac and Mary Rempel, brothers, Wilfred and Helmut, and sister Lydia. Those remembering her life are; Anne Stevens (husband Wilfred deceased), Gertrude McKay (husband Harold deceased), Hulda (Charles) Fiero, Erna Rempel, Ella Cook (husband Gordon deceased), and Kurt (Joan) Rempel. She will also be remembered by her step children, Dwayne (Ruth) Daku, Ron (Marlene) Daku, Gloria (Terry) Hamre, Marilyn (Hans) Van de Vosse, Sharon (Felix) Tillmanns, Gerry (Brenda) Daku. By Freda’s request the funeral will be held at the Christian Fellowship Church, Rhineland, SK. The funeral will be held Saturday, Oct 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Alvin Buhler and Dwayne Easton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church, designated to The Evangelical Alliance Mission. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends who knew and loved her gracious and indomitable spirit.
