My sincere condolences. Your parents were both so kind. They were good friends with my parents in the 80s and I saw your dad often when he came for valley ministerial meetings at our house. My thoughts are with you as you grieve.

To the family of Benno, as you grieve the passing of your father and grandfather, and celebrate a life well -lived; With his passing, those of us who knew him realize that a truly remarkable person has gone from our lives, and he is deeply missed. His warm and engaging personality, his genuine care and concern for others, the capacity to see the humor in a situation (aided by a delightful mastery of the Low German!) all blended together to make him a wonderful person to enjoy being with. His influence upon my life, especially during my growing up years in Tiefengrund, was enormously significant. I always appreciated his thoughtful, deliberate, “let’s get to the heart of the matter” approach when it came to questions of faith and life. Later on Benno became a driving force in making the vision of Shekinah Retreat Centre become a beautiful and thriving reality in the lives of many of us, for which we owe him a debt of gratitude. For Benno’s life and for all that he meant to us, ‘Soli Deo Gloria’ – To God Be the Glory!

Dear Klassen family, Our condolences to you all on the passing of your dad and grandpa! Benno played many roles in our lives: neighbour, fellow farmer, Sunday School teacher, deacon, pastor colleague and friend. He contributed so much to his friends and communities and was so very proud of you, his family. May God comfort you all and hold you close as you grieve his passing.

I was saddened to hear of your dear father’s passing. My sincere condolences to you his family. I got to know Benno while he pastored at Zoar Mennonite in Waldheim. I found him to be a caring, compassionate man and held him in high regard. I always felt warmly accepted and affirmed by him and viewed him as a wise advisor and friend.
