Obituary of Luella Neudorf

May 7, 1933 – May 22, 2012 Luella Neudorf, Lolly to her friends, was the eldest of four children born to Adam and Tena Reidt of Silver Grove, Saskatchewan on May 7, 1933. This district is three miles across the North Saskatchewan River, from Wingard Ferry. She went to school at Silver Grove for one year and spent the next five years in Southern Alberta, where her father worked on farms and in the oilfields. In 1946, the family moved to Horse Lake (north of Duck Lake), where her father purchased land for farming. This land is still farmed by the Reidt family. Luella married John Neudorf on September 26, 1952. Together they farmed in the MacDowall area until John became ill in 1974. They had two children, Dianne (Bannerman) and Dwayne. John passed away in 1976. Luella obtained her school bus license to drive school bus in 1976. In 1998, she was diagnosed with cancer and this ended her term as bus driver. Luella moved into Prince Albert in 1999. She made many new friends in Prince Albert and enjoyed this new chapter in her life. On May 12, 2012 Luella required emergency surgery and suffered a stroke which ended her life on Tuesday, May 22. At the age of 79, a special mother, grandmother and G.G. went to be with her Lord. Luella worked very hard as a farmer’s wife and expected her children to work with the same determination and dedication. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and dearly loved all visits with them. Prior to failing health, she was very dedicated to community work in the MacDowall & District Lioness Club and St. Stephen’s Church. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and touched the lives of many. Luella will be lovingly remembered by her: children, Dianne (Lyle) Bannerman, Dwayne (Sandra) Neudorf; grandchildren: Dalyce (Greg) Taggart, Kylee (Kris) Patoki, Devon Neudorf; great grandchildren: Dylan Taggart, Rylee Taggart, Zayna Patoki; brother, Melvin (Kathy) Reidt, sisters, Lorna (Maurice) Kucey, Thelma Harper; sisters-in-law, Maude Neudorf, Tena Wilkinson, Mary Wilkinson, Marian Friesen; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Luella was predeceased by her: husband, John Neudorf; parents, Adam and Tena Reidt; parents-in-law, John and Katherina Neudorf; brothers-in-law, Dave Wiens, Henry Neudorf, Diedrich Neudorf, Edward Neudorf, Walter Blakeney, Leonard Wilkinson, Robert Wilkinson; sisters-in-law, Agatha Wiens, Ella Blakeney, Sylvia Neudorf. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am at the MacDowall Recreation Centre on Monday, May 28, 2012 with Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin officiating. Interment will be held at the Horse Lake Cemetery.
