He is survived by his children; son Richard & Sandra Janzen, son Cory Janzen (Tricia), children Mason (Darien), Taylor and Carter; son Ryan, children Dalton (Jayde), Paige (Jesse & Nevaeh), Katherine (Mackenzie) and his wife Jeanine Janzen and their daughter Harper, and children Dylan, Carson, Kaydra; son Jay Janzen (Dani), and his children Hunter, Layne, and Courtney; brother George Janzen, sister Olive Yonge, sister Judy Janzen, brother Gary Janzen, brother-in-law Arnold Dyck and sister-in-law Doreen Janzen He was predeceased by his wife Jean Janzen, parents George and Katherine Janzen, grandson Brock Janzen, sister Betty Mae Dyck, brother Larry Janzen, brother-in-law Martin Yonge and sister-in-law Joanne Janzen. Peter was born in Waldheim on June 15, 1944 to George and Katherine Janzen. He grew up on the family farm east of Rosthern and continued to farm and raise his own family on that very yard. Peter was the third oldest in a family of seven. On October 12th, 1968 Peter married the love of his life Jean Heinrichs. Peter graduated from grade 12 at Rosthern Junior College. After completing high school, he continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan and earned a diploma in Agriculture and began farming. Peter and Jean lived on the farm for 48 years. Those years were busy years with raising children, milking cows, harvesting, playing sports, coaching and in the later years watching their grandchildren participate in their activities. Grandpa had a soft heart when it came to his grandchildren! Later, when things slowed on the farm, Peter began working for Wendland Ag (Blair’s Fertilizers) hauling fertilizer to farmers. Peter loved this job as it gave him the opportunity to visit with farmers all day long! There was not a road or dirt trail that Peter did not know in the area. In 2018, Peter and Jean moved off the farm and into Rosthern. Family was important to Peter and when he had the opportunity to coach them in hockey, he did. In the boys’ younger years Peter and Jean were usually headed in different directions with each of the boys so they each had the opportunity to play. As the boys got older and grandchildren came along, he still enjoyed watching them in the activities they participated in. Whether it was going to a ball tournament, a wrestling match, the rodeo, or a Christmas Concert, Peter was interested in what they were doing. After the children were grown and some of the grandchildren were older too, he looked forward to the annual fishing trip with some of them at Cowan Lake. Peter loved to play hockey and when he retired from that, he took up curling. Peter was full of grit when he played hockey and would never back down from a challenge! Peter was a Rosthern Wheat King through and through and was very proud to have been their captain and won the Saskatchewan Hockey League title that year. After senior hockey, Peter played for the Rosthern Oldtimers for years. These years were filled with lots of fun, tournaments, bus trips and storytelling! When he took up curling, he played in the local men’s league and spent many weekends curling in bonspiels around the Rosthern area. Upon confession of his faith, Peter was baptized in 1968. Peter and Jean were members of the Rosthern Mennonite Church and in their later years volunteered with ushering and serving duties in the church. Peter will be sadly missed by all, but never far from our thoughts.
