Obituary of Elizabeth Berg
1913 – 2014 Elizabeth Berg passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2014 at the age of 100 years, just one month short of her 101st birthday. Elizabeth (Betty) was born on June 20th, 1913 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan to Aron and Katherine Friesen. Elizabeth stayed on the family farm with her parents until the mid 30’s when she moved to Abbostford, B.C. with her family. Elizabeth decided that B.C. wasn’t for her, so she returned to Saskatoon where she met Harry Berg. Elizabeth and Harry were married in Saskatoon on June 20, 1942 while Harry was enlisted in the Army. After the war, Elizabeth and Harry settled in Prince Albert where they operated a small grocery store for a number of years. A few years after they sold the store, they moved to Rosthern where Harry started a plumbing business. They remained in Rosthern until the early 70’s when they returned to Prince Albert and then to Calgary before finally retiring back to Rosthern so they could be closer to family and friends. Elizabeth was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to bake and always looked after a huge garden. Her baked buns and bread were always a big hit with the family. Elizabeth always cherished her time with her family and loved having them visit. She loved to knit and crochet and made many items for her friends and family. She also enjoyed many holidays visiting her three sons in Alberta, British Columbia and Mexico. She also cherished her grand children and great grandchildren and loved to visit and spoil them. Elizabeth is survived by her three sons: Ron (Temesa) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Ken (Bonnie) Medicine Hat, Alberta; and Erwin (Joyce) Osoyoos, B.C. as well as five grandchildren; Trevor (Jennifer) Berg; Robin Berg; Amanda (Ryan) Berg; Stacie (Jason) Roth and Stefanie (Brad) Oulette and seven great grandchildren; Tyler, Brittany, Bryanna, Mckenna, and Sloan Berg and Sean and Ella Oulette.
