Obituary of William D. Giesbrecht

November 3, 1917 – March 18, 2018 Our amazing father, we lovingly called “Daddy Bear” and who just celebrated his 100th birthday last November 3rd, is now celebrating a new beginning. He had his passport, his ticket and seat selection ready as the flight announcement sounded “Jesus Calling, Boarding time is 7:37 PM”! His girls, Pearl and Rosie, plus the incredible nursing staff at the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern, were all there with tears of love waving goodbye as he took that last peaceful breath and flew off on the “Wings of an Eagle”! Everyone loved that man so much! Always thankful and full of compliments. He always said that every visit from family friends and staff was like a medicine! Right now there’s a party in heaven as his wife, Agatha, is greeting him with open arms! His oldest daughter, Joni, will be dancing for him. His sisters, Greta and Anne along with his brothers Dave, Benno, Henry and Jake have a family feast prepared as they welcome him through those ‘Pearly Gates’! Let’s not forget his parents, Dave and Anne, who will also be so excited to see him. He leaves behind his only brother, Ed, his sister, Mary, Martha and Linda, his children Rosie, Pearl and Tim and his grandkids Tusa and Tania and his great-grandkids, who call him ‘grosspapa’, Kai, Luca, Ziah, Ayanaquinn, Kaius and Tao! The long string of in-laws, nieces and nephews all created a tight knit family fabric we call “the Geezer Clan”! They all know he had the best trip of his life. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018, at 1:30 P.M. at the Mennonite Nursing Home Auditorium, Rosthern, SK. Interment will take place at Waldheim Cemetery, Waldheim, SK. Arrangements are in care of Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK (306-232-5245, http://www.funksfuneralhome.ca).
