Lawrie and I spent many good times with your mom in Texas, especially when we all lived at Harbor Landing in Corpus. Friends of ours stayed in your moms apartment when they came to see us at Christmas, and she was in Canada spending Christmas with you! The last time we saw her was when we stayed at her cabin for our nieces wedding near Tweedsmuir. She was the most generous spirited person, so adventurous, and fun to boot! She talked about you with so much pride Darci, and she was so excited to have those grand girls come along, we know how much all of you will miss her! Our condolences. Kim and Lawrie Schell

My deepest condolences to you and your family Darci, as well as Mr Benno and his family. I will never forget her smile when she would walk onto the ward at McAllen Medical Center and DHR. I will always cherish our trips to Progreso and our meals at Arturo’s. She was a very special person and adored her family. May God wrap His loving arms around you at this sorrowful time. Hugs.

I can’t believe Joan is gone The last time I saw her, I think was in May. She was coming out of Big Way and I was going in. We were stuck between the doors as we stopped in the middle to chat. She put her groceries down and I realized that she was weaker then she even realized. I said, stay right there, and I went around the door and because I felt strong that day, I said I will carry your groceries and we can talk on our way to your car. She said, “isn’t that funny that, because we have both been sick and weak, that we recognize it in others?” I said, yes it is. So when I put her stuff in the car she said she would be ok. I asked to to call me if she has trouble getting into the house. Joan the offered kinda the same. She said, if you ever need help, just call me . We worked quite a lot together at the MNH over the years and I will miss our little chats in between. My Condolences to Darcy and Family as well as Benno and his family. My Deepest Sympathy to Joan’s siblings and families because I know you are all so close. Joan loved her cousins a lot and my sympathies to to all as well.

Darci and family, my condolences to all of you on the loss of your Mom and Grandma Jo. Joan bore her illness with grace and dignity…and she still found the energy to care and be interested in what others were up to. I am fortunate to have called her my friend and I will miss her. May she rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Darci and her girls. Joan was always so proud of all of you and you could hear this when she spoke of yous. Also, my deepest sympathy to Darlene and the rest of the family. She will be missed by all. I worked with Joan at the WCHL and remember her in previous years as a nurse at Rosthern Hospital. We travelled together some days and Joan would share many stories. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. RIP Joan.

So glad I spent a chemo treatment with her in June or July. Had a good visit. She had such a positive attitude of gratitude for all she had done, especially her travels after her initial diagnosis. She was accepting that the end was getting closer.
