Shirley Anne Flynn (Weir, Reid), Beloved Sister, Mother, Grandma, Great-Great Grandma, and Dear Friend to many passed away at the age of 88 years on December 2, 2023
Our Mom was born in the smelter town of Trail, BC March 8, 1935, to parents James and Pearl Weir and big brother James Weir. In 1940 Shirley became the adoring big sister to Sharron Diane Weir.
Mom finished high school in Trail BC, although she hated school, she had beautiful handwriting, excellent spelling, and arithmetic skills, which served her well throughout her entire life.
No need for spell check with Mom in the room.
Mom loved sending cards to everyone she knew, no matter the season. She kept track of everyone’s birthdays and always enclosed cheques to anyone under …. well we never did figure out her cut-off age.
To say our Mom was generous would be the biggest understatement of the year!
It didn’t matter if you were related to Mom or not, if you were in need, she would give you whatever she could. Back in the days when Mom’s income was very small, she shared, that the more money came into her possession, the more she shared.
Mom had a heart bigger than anyone we ever knew. Even when we were seeing the negative in a person, not our Mom. She loved unconditionally her whole life and would not allow us to speak badly of anyone in her presence.
Her boundless love came from the love that God had for her. She never spoke to a family member, friend, or stranger without sharing the love of Jesus.
She loved to sing of Jesus and His love for her. Even in her dark days, and there were many due to a lifelong struggle with depression, she never gave up her hope in Jesus.
Mom, we all want to thank you for sharing the love of Jesus with us. Even in death, that cannot be taken away from us.
We truly believe that you will spend eternity visiting all the strangers you told about Jesus, in your walking around life as a chatty, singing, ray of sunshine to the whole world and everyone you meet.
Mom is survived by her adored sister, Sharron Dianne Weir.
